Masterpieces from the museum of cartoon art at the bruce. By Wendy Logan. Beetle Bailey, Hi and Lois, Hagar the Horrible, Prince Valiant, and countless other comic book heroes and anti-heroes have more in common than their genre. All were written and created at mid-century and all within the heart of Fairfield County. This comic and illustrators’ cluster became an extended family, both personally and professionally, and today, the children of Mort Walker, Dik Browne, John Cullen Murphy and Bil Keane continue their famous fathers’ – and their beloved characters’ – legacy. Artist and Greenwich native Brian Walker, along with his brothers Greg and Neal, is among them, and he serves as curator for a truly spectacular new exhibit at The Bruce Museum in Greenwich.
